Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is life coaching?
Life coaching is a structured but conversational process that helps you clarify your goals, overcome obstacles, and move forward with purpose. Unlike therapy, it’s focused on the present and future rather than analyzing the past.

2. How is life coaching different from therapy?
Therapy often addresses mental health diagnoses and healing from past wounds. Coaching is about performance, mindset, and growth — helping motivated people take action and elevate their lives. While coaching will reflect on the past, it is primarily future focused. After each coaching session, you will have quick access to your session summary that includes key insights and next steps.

3. Who do you typically work with?
We work with motivated adults who want confidence, direction, and clarity in their lives. Whether you are experiencing depression, anxiety, or trauma symptoms, or simply need to get more direction in your life, we want to join you on that journey. We also help parents looking for quality parenting strategies and stronger connections with their kids. Only adult Illinois residents are eligible for our individual therapy services while life coaching services are eligible for all adult US residents.

4. How long is each session?
Coaching sessions are 45 minutes because it’s the ideal length for focused progress. It gives time to work through what matters, create a clear plan forward, and wrap up in a way that leaves you with energy and direction. Therapy sessions are often 53+ minutes as they require more time for processing.

5. How soon can we get started?
Coaching- You can get started right away. Once you book your first paid session, you’ll receive an intake form and surveys to complete. Then, we’ll be ready to go.

Individual therapy- Very Soon. We will soon be accepting major insurance carriers in Illinois.

6. How often do people meet with a coach/therapist?
Most coaching clients meet once a week, but some prefer every other week. Therapy clients usually have weekly appointments that lessen over time.

7. How long do people stick with life coaching?
Six months is standard, but it depends on your goals. Some work with us for a few months to get clarity on a transition, while others continue longer to sustain momentum and accountability.

8. Do you accept insurance?
Coaching- This service isn't billed through insurance. Sessions are private pay. Many people find the investment worthwhile because it gives them full privacy, flexibility, and control over the process.

Individual therapy- We are currently getting credentialed through major insurance carriers and will be accepting insurance soon.

9. What can I expect in a coaching session?
Each session blends reflection and action. You and your coach will talk through what’s happening in your life, uncover patterns, and identify practical next steps. You’ll leave each session with clarity and momentum. When the session is over, you will have access to a comprehensive session summary that will help you reflect and make changes in the week to come. After every 4th session, short online surveys are conducted to help identify progress and needed adjustments.

10.  What can I expect in a therapy session?

In therapy, we focus on understanding the causes and symptoms of issues like depression, anxiety, trauma, or relationship stress. We will use evidence-based approaches and trauma-informed methods to help you manage emotions, change unhelpful thought patterns, and strengthen your overall well-being.

11. Do you give homework or assignments?
Yes — but they’re not “schoolwork.” We may suggest simple practices, reflections, or conversations for you to try between sessions, so progress continues beyond our meetings.

12. Are therapy and coaching confidential?
Yes, all conversations are private. We don’t share your information or details with anyone unless you request it. Coaching is not held to the same legal standards as therapy, however.
